Townsville on show at Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event

10th February 2023

The Townsville Enterprise Convention Bureau will travel to Melbourne for the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) next week to promote the region as premier destination to hold business events and meetings.

Townsville Enterprise Director of Visitor Economy and Marketing, Lisa Woolfe said AIME is where industry decision makers connect, create and do business.

“This year, AIME is expected to host 400 buyers from around the world, welcome 2,000 visitor buyers and over 350 exhibitors from across various industry sectors,” Mrs Woolfe said.

“We have one-on-one meetings with more than 20 event planners where we will be selling Townsville North Queensland as a premier business event and meetings destination.”

“The global pandemic saw business events and meetings turn to online and with the world opening up again, Townsville North Queensland is ready to welcome business events back to the region and AIME is the perfect platform for this message.”

“Business events are a $35 billion industry in Australia, with the average daily spend at $600 per person per conference day.  Business events are an important contributor to our local economy and a welcomed boost for our tourism operators, dining and bars and retail.”

“Townsville is home to globally recognised leaders across a multitude of disciplines, we have great venues, event suppliers, dining options and connections to sought after industry tours and pre and post touring across the region. Business events are our opportunity to showcase our capability, innovation and drive economic benefit. They also support investment and promote liveability.”

Townsville Enterprise is the official Convention Bureau for the Townsville North Queensland region.
