The Townsville North Queensland region has seen one of the strongest and most robust periods of economic growth. More than $13.6 billion worth of projects were committed to our region and the economic activity in North Queensland has resulted in the lowest unemployment in the state of Queensland for 12 consecutive months.
Townsville Enterprise, together with industry, have launched the first industry-led Regional Growth Plan for Townsville North Queensland.
This five-year plan is a blueprint across sectors and industries to ensure enabling investment, workforce, water, and housing planning is done holistically with a strategic focus. The plan was developed with AEC Group and more than 50 industry representatives over the last 18 months.
After more than 12-months of consumer insights, focus groups across the country, online surveying and creative testing, Townsville Enterprise and our partners are pleased to launch the region’s new destination brand with a national campaign starting at the International Media Marketplace in Sydney on Friday 24 February.
On Friday 1 April, The Hon Alex Hawke MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs announced Townsville Enterprise as the Designated Area Representative for a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) for the Townsville North Queensland region to assist in addressing the severe skills shortages that have been stifling economic growth and business activity in the region.
