TENDER OPPORTUNITY: Destination Brand Review

Townsville Enterprise is looking to commission a suitably qualified and experienced consultant to undertake a destination brand review for the regional tourism catchment of Townsville North Queensland. The consultant should work with project partners to deliver a brand strategy and implementation plan.

The purpose of the destination brand review is to:

  • Development of a distinctive destination brand positioning for Townsville North Queensland, including consideration of a regional re-name (if aligned to research findings).
  • Align to Queensland’s consumer strategy and state-wide brand architecture, with strong focus on consumer insights and research.
  • Consider emerging trends in domestic and international tourism landscape to future-proof the destination brand (i.e., sustainability, eco-traveller, wellness).
  • Consider the domestic competitor landscape and state tourism brand and look to factor in rebound international markets suitable to Townsville North Queensland offerings.
  • Deliver an implementation plan including brand identity and creative look and feel of the new destination brand.

Destination Marketing Toolkit

The Townsville North Queensland Destination Marketing Toolkit is a collection of useful information on the Townsville North Queensland region.

This document includes the region’s hero experiences and attractions, online assets, brochures, videos, image gallery and branding. The project aims to ensure up-to-date and consistent information is shared with industry and will be continuously updated over time.

Townsville North Queensland Holiday and Travel Guide

The Holiday and Travel Guide is one of the primary collateral pieces used by Townsville Enterprise to market the destination.

70,000 copies of the Guide are produced and distributed annually through Visitor Information Centres, at consumer shows, to cruise ship passengers, at business and entertainment events and by local businesses. The Guide is also distributed to Inbound Tourism Operators and wholesalers at international trade shows including the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) and the Caravanning and Camping Shows.


Townsville North Queensland Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions Guide

The Townsville North Queensland Meetings, Incentives, Conference & Exhibitions (MICE) Guide is the first point of information for event planners considering Townsville North Queensland as their next events destination.

This is the key piece of collateral that is taken to AIME (Australian Incentive and Meetings Expo) and sales meetings which are targeted at attracting business events to the region. It includes venues, creative dinner options and pre and post touring information for businesses to host a successful event in Townsville North Queensland.

The Townsville North Queensland Trade Manual is the key piece of collateral that is used at Trade Shows including the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE). 


Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW)

The Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) is a national tourism database that feeds information on tourism products, events and destination information to more than 60 websites.

The database houses information on accommodation, tours, restaurants, attractions, events, hire , travel support services, touring routes and transport products. Products that appear on the regions holiday and travel website pull from the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse.



Townsville Enterprise works with operators in the region to attract and engage study tour groups.

The region’s reputation as a destination of excellence in education, particularly in the fields of marine and tropical sciences and environmental studies, makes it ideal for study tour groups looking to combined practical field work experience with theoretical studies.


International Marketing

Townsville Enterprise works to position the Townsville North Queensland region as a desirable destination for international visitors.

In 2012, Townsville Enterprise entered into a cooperative international marketing agreement with SeaLink Queensland to boost the region’s profile in targeted overseas markets. SeaLink has significant representation in New Zealand, Europe, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, China and Korea. This partnership will ensure the Townsville North Queensland region has the opportunity to leverage off these links to open up opportunities for increased international exposure and trade. The partnership included the formation of an international marketing group comprising of commercial operators from the region who are international ready.
