Townsville Enterprise is the peak economic development and destination management organisation for Townsville North Queensland. For more than 30 years, Townsville Enterprise has played a critical role in leading the economic progress for the region through strong political advocacy, investment attraction, tourism development and by promoting Townsville North Queensland as a place to visit, invest and live. Our purpose is to secure the future of Townsville North Queensland.
Our Achievements
- 1992: Launched Townsville Shines Brand
- 1994: Townsville hosted the Queensland Tourism Awards & became accredited as the regions Convention Bureau
- 1995: Supported the attraction of Sun Metals Refinery
- 2000: Townsville announced as the first regional destination for Virgin Blue (Virgin Australia)
- 2002: Townsville Enterprise secures Professional Bull Riding Annual Event
- 2004: Townsville Enterprise secures Supercars
- 2012: Townsville Enterprise launches Townsville Emerging Leaders Program
- 2015: Townsville selected as the headquarters for Australia’s largest electricity distributor, Energy Queensland
- 2016: Townsville Stadium secured
- 2017: Carmichael mine secured resulting in more than 2,000 new jobs for North and Central Queensland
- 2017: Advocated for funding to sure Townsville Port Channel Widening Project
- 2017: Secured commitment towards Townsville City Deals
- 2017: Undertook the North Queensland Agricultural Market and Supply Chain Study
- 2020: Launch of Museum of Underwater Art and associated campaign reaching 180 million people globally
- 2021: Townsville Enterprise secured the North Queensland Hydrogen Consortium
- 2022: Business Case completed for Hells Gates Dam
- 2022: Secured funding and undertook Magnetic Island Tourism Masterplan
- 2023: Launched Townsville North Queensland destination brand "Up for unexpected"
