Townsville North Queensland on show at the Australian Tourism Exchange

28th April 2023

Townsville North Queensland tourism representatives will head to the Gold Coast next week for the Australian tourism industry’s largest annual trade event, the 2023 Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE23).

ATE23 will be attended by more than 650 trade partners, wholesalers, cruise representatives, travel agents, and international media from over 30 countries.

Townsville Enterprise Director of Visitor Economy and Marketing, Lisa Woolfe said Townsville Enterprise has secured almost 150 meetings as part of the ATE23.

“We will have one-on-one meetings with media, tourism wholesalers, cruise representatives and retailers as well a dedicated booth showcasing our region’s tourism operators and our diverse experiences on offer,” Mrs Woolfe said.

“Together with Townsville Enterprise we have 11 operators representing the region, showcasing everything from our luxury accommodation, Great Barrier Reef tours, island getaways to outback experiences. The Museum of Underwater Art’s latest installation at John Brewer Reef will take centre stage.”

“After two years of condensed hybrid events, ATE23 will return to its traditional format, a four-day event held on the Gold Coast. This will be the first tourism buyers event following the launch of the region’s new destination brand – Up for Unexpected.”

“Everything that makes Australia authentic and unique can be found in Townsville North Queensland.”

Paul Crocombe from Adrenalin Snorkel and Dive is looking forward to having his company represented at ATE23 with the Townsville Enterprise team.

“These events are key to promoting our tourism products internationally and educating buyers about the health of the Central Section of the Great Barrier Reef,” Mr Crocombe said.

“Townsville Enterprise is our ticket to ATE23. The impact of participating in events like this as a united force strengthens the whole story of our diverse region and what we have to offer visitors.”

ATE23 will be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre between 30 April and 4 May 2023.
