Townsville Enterprise Appoints New Board Director

22nd November 2023

The Townsville Enterprise Board is pleased to welcome Peter Duffy as a new Board Director.

A Senior Partner at Wilson Ryan Grose, Peter has a long history serving the Townsville community as an experienced commercial and property lawyer. A born-and-raised North Queenslander, with over 30 years’ experience in commercial law, Mr Duffy is a highly regarded business leader.

No stranger to Townsville Enterprise, Peter has been volunteering on the organisation’s Finance and Risk (FAR) Committee for over 8 years and will continue to offer his skills in governance to the company in their vision to secure the future of Townsville North Queensland.

Mr Duffy said that it was a pleasure to accept the appointment as a Director on the Townsville Enterprise Board.

“It is an honour to have the opportunity to serve upon the Board of Townsville Enterprise. I look forward to making a contribution as we all strive to see our City and Region realise its potential as a great place to visit, work and live,” Mr Duffy said.

The appointment comes after long serving Board Director Moya Steele steps down from the Board after eight years of service to the organisation. Moya leaves a fine legacy of service and continues to support major economic development opportunities throughout the region and State.

Townsville Enterprise Chairman Kevin Gill said Mr Duffy’s appointment was based on his strong leadership within Townsville’s business community over the past three decades, complementing the priorities of the region and organisation.

“Peter has been supporting the vision of Townsville Enterprise for some time, and his invaluable experience and knowledge will continue to drive the direction of Townsville Enterprise in his new capacity as Board Director,” Mr Gill said.

“The Board and I also extend our sincere gratitude to Moya Steele for volunteering eight years of service to Townsville Enterprise. She has been an integral component of the bold strategies and positions the organisation has taken to date.”

As Mr Duffy moves into the position of Board Director, his seat at the FAR Committee table has been filled by another well respected local business leader – Allison McKay.

The COO of Pickerings Auto Group – one of North Queensland’s largest private businesses, Allison brings a wealth of business knowledge to the appointment having been a high performing businesswoman in Townsville’s private sector for over 22 years.

“Townsville Enterprise is a force in securing the future of Townsville and North Queensland. As a long time, Townsville local, I am excited to be involved in contributing to the future development of the area and to bring my expertise in finance and risk from years in the banking, hospitality and automotive industries,” Ms McKay said.

The appointments will formally commence from the upcoming Townsville Enterprise Annual General meeting, to be held at the Ville Resort on Wednesday 29 November at 3pm, followed by a special members Christmas function.
