Live economic snapshot now at NQ business fingertips.
Townsville Enterprise has launched their new Economic Snapshot Dashboard, the region’s most up-to-date economic data platform, giving business and industry a new level of insight into performance and outlooks across North Queensland.
Townsville Enterprise CEO Claudia Brumme-Smith said that the Dashboard will be replacing the previous Quarterly Economic Snapshots, and covers the same industry sectors across Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Tower, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island Councils.
“The new Economic Snapshot Dashboard has been designed to give business and industry in the region access to the best quality, most up to date economic data that we could compile,” Ms Brumme-Smith said.]
“We’ve been working on this model for several months with support from our sponsors JCU and local advisory firm AEC Group, and wanted to find a way to differentiate what we could give our members beyond the existing quarterly analysis that is currently released.
“The Dashboard takes in trade figures through the Port of Townsville, tourism, mining and agriculture sector data, as well as labour force and business confidence trends presents it in a highly accessible and visual way.
“Economic data is contextual, so we along with the graphs and figures we are providing high-level economic analysis to help tell the story about our region’s performance as we move through the year.
“For example, a lot of movement on commodity prices we’re seeing at the moment is driven either directly or indirectly buy Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, so it’s important we understand how this is impacting our economy as we plan and prepare for the future.”
The Dashboard is driven by business analytics software Power BI, and includes data from a range of Government departments including the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Queensland Government Statisticians Office, along with industry associations and economic advisory groups like PVW Partners business confidence data.
