Townsville on Show at Australia’s Largest Business Events Expo

14th February 2020

From Monday, Townsville Enterprise, The Ville Resort Casino, Mercure Townsville and Orpheus Island will be representing the region at the nation’s largest trade expo for securing business events and incentive programs - the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME).

The event is a two-day exhibition for over 4,000 suppliers and decision makers in the business travel, meetings, incentives and event industries from all over the world.

Townsville Enterprise Tourism & Events Director, Lisa Woolfe said Townsville Enterprise’s presence at the event has a proven track-record for securing business events in the region.

“Townsville has had strong representation at this event for a number of years and it has been integral in securing some of the city’s largest conferences, including the Australian/New Zealand EB Games & ZING Pop Culture Conference, the Neonatal State Conference and the Hardware and Building Traders National Conference,” Ms Woolfe said.

“This year the team will meet with over 30 conference organisers from corporations and associations across the country, showcasing our region’s meeting venues, pre and post touring attractions and our strategic industry linkages.

“Considering business event attendees spend an average $403 per person/per day while in region, the importance of this market to our local economy and tourism industry cannot be overstated.

“Attending AIME also gives our destination significant exposure while discussing how we can assist events and conferences now and into the future.”

Appointments will be held with state and national conference organisers including Master Plumbers Association, Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, Australian Property Institute, and the Australian Veterinary Association, to name just a few.
