What is the Mates Rates Campaign?

The Mates Rates Campaign is a Townsville Enterprise initiative aimed at driving bookings for operators during the shoulder and low seasons between December and March. The campaign is encouraging locals to holiday at home by offering a 50% subsidy on tours, experiences, accommodation, packages, and hospitality vouchers.

The operators featured in the campaign receive full payment for their booking/purchase and the remaining 50% is being funded by Townsville Enterprise.

It is on sale from 16 February – 29 March 2024 (unless sold out sooner), for travel from now until 30 May 2024 (excluding public holidays). Consumers need to visit townsvillenorthqueensland.com.au and use promo code ‘Mates50’ on any bookable experiences, accommodation, tours, and hospitality vouchers. Discount applies to bookable products on townsvillenorthqueensland.com.au only.

How does it work?

  • Bookings are made on townsvillenorthqueensland.com.au using the promo code. A discount of 50% will be applied for the customer up to the value of $350.
  • Operators will receive the booking via a direct link through their channel manager or via an on-request email (depending on set-up)
  • Operator will receive full payment once the booking has been completed (and in line with our payment cycles)
  • It is the responsibility of the operator to make sure their Bookeasy connection is working and that details are up to date. Support can be provided from TEL.

 

How is it funded?

Townsville Enterprise will be subsidising the discount portion of sales generated through the campaign.


How can industry get involved?

Businesses within the tourism sector are invited to participate. Inclusion is automatic if you meet ALL the below criteria:

  1. Have an ATDW (Australian Tourism Data Warehouse) listing.
  2. Have a signed agreement and set up with Townsville Enterprise’s booking platform, Bookeasy. To be part of the upcoming Mates Rates campaign, you will need to do this before 1 November 2025.
  3. Have product/tours/accommodation available during the campaign period.
  4. Have the appropriate permits, licencing, and insurance to be operating.
