Townsville Enterprise Limited (TEL) welcomes the opportunity to provide a submission to the Joint Standing Committee on Trade and Investment Growth on the inquiry into the prudential regulation of investment in Australia’s export industries, following a referral from the Hon Keith Pitt MP, Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia on Wednesday 17 February 2021.
The Terms of Reference for the Inquiry outline four areas of particular focus:
1. The existing and future contributions of Australia’s export industries;
2. The investment guidance provided by Australia’s financial regulators in relation to investment in Australia’s export industries;
3. The approach and motivations of financial institutions, including banks, insurers and superannuation funds, as well as publicly listed companies, to their investment in Australia’s export industries; and
4. Any other related matter.
