Visitors will have the chance to win one of three $1,000 holidays in Townsville North Queensland, and access to holiday discounts, in a bid to support the tourism and events industry as it continues to recover from the COVID lockdown earlier this month, and the latest interstate restrictions announced this week.
The Townsville North Queensland Holiday Discounts will save visitors (and locals) up to 10% on all tours, accommodation and holiday packages available online at townsvillenorthqueensland.com.au for a limited time, with travel dates available until the end of 2021.
Townsville Enterprise will offer up to a 10% discount on all bookings*, with the discount taken from the commission normally charged from each booking.
Director Visitor Economy and Marketing, Lisa Woolfe said the initiative, delivered in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland, was the regional tourism body’s way of driving demand for the industry without further burdening operators to find product discounts/offers themselves.
“We have heard loud and clear from our industry that a three day lockdown does not equate to just three days of lost business, and continuing restrictions on interstate markets brings further pain for our industry - which is why as soon as our masks are off here in Townsville North Queensland, we wanted to be in market with a Queensland-wide campaign,” Ms Woolfe said.
“The way the campaign has been structured ensures that the 10% discount which is offered to visitors is not a burden on the industry, as the Regional Tourism Body we are taking this hit from our usual booking commission fees to show our support.”
