Townsville Enterprise, the North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (NQROC) and North Queensland’s business community are working closer than ever before in advocating for the region as one voice.
COVID-19 has illustrated just how important North Queensland is to the nation’s economy. Without the region’s key industries such as Agriculture, Mining, Minerals Processing, Defence and Health, the national economy would look much different today. Whilst no industry or region has been immune to the impacts of the pandemic, these are the industries and this is the region which has the potential to play a leading role in our national recovery and keep Australians in jobs.
The continued focus on economic recovery is critical to the future of North Queensland and the partnership between business and Government has never been more important. As we look ahead to the 2021 Federal Budget, we are making a strong case for targeted investment and policy support to ensure the North not only recovers but plays its part in supporting the nation’s recovery and future resilience building.
North Queensland has the people, the potential and the projects that can support Australia’s long-term economic recovery and growth. North Queenslanders remain strong, we are resilient, and we are optimistic about our future, because a Strong North Queensland is a Strong Nation.
