Townsville North Queensland Shines at Queensland Tourism Awards

Townsville Enterprise was thrilled to join eight of its members at the Queensland Tourism Awards, and collectively celebrate three Gold award wins and two Bronze - an incredible achievement for our region!

Joining Townsville Enterprise as finalists, across a range of categories, included Big Mama Sailing, Aquascene Charters, Grand Hotel and Apartments Townsville, Mungalla Aboriginal Tours, Umbrella Studio (Pop Up NQ), Cobbold Village, Gilberton Outback Retreat and Paronella Park.

Townsville Enterprise is proud to have brought home Gold for the Richard Power Award for Destination Marketing for the 'Ultimate Guide to Driving the Great Barrier Reef'. This campaign was delivered in partnership with six other Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) to promote the driving routes, itineraries, tourism products and unique experiences along the Great Barrier Reef. Across 2017/18, 350,000 printed copies of the guide were distributed throughout Visitor Information Centres, accommodation properties, rental companies and more. The guide is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German and French. In addition to the printed guide, an e-Book version has been developed which can be viewed here.

Gold awards were also won by Townsville Enterprise members, Grand Hotel and Apartments Townsville for Standard Accommodation, Paronella Park for Cultural Tourism, and Cobbold Village for Hosted Accommodation. Paronella Park also picked up the Bronze award in the Tourist Attractions category and Gilberton Outback Retreat won Bronze for Unique Accommodation.

Congratulations to Mark and Judy Evans of Paronella Park who also won a further two awards for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual and People's Choice Award.
