Module 7: Health and Innovation

The North Queensland Future Leaders Program participants experienced a dynamic last module of the program on August 1, 2024. The day commenced with a visit to Mater Private Hospital Townsville, where they engaged with various facets of the hospital’s operations, including its broad network of facilities and recent technological advancements. Participants took part in sessions that covered a range of topics from high-performing team dynamics to cutting-edge medical technologies and strategic change management.

Following their time at Mater, the group traveled to Townsville University Hospital, where they received a comprehensive overview of the hospital’s services and participated in a detailed tour of its emergency department. This was complemented by insights into innovative medical treatments, enhancing their understanding of the healthcare landscape.

The day concluded with a visit to Ronald McDonald House, where participants took part in the "Feast with Friends" program. They prepared and shared a BBQ meal with the families residing at the house, offering them a chance to engage directly with the community and contribute to a meaningful cause.

As the final module of the program, this day served as a fitting culmination to the participants' journey. Reflecting on their experiences, it is clear that the cohort has not only gained invaluable knowledge and skills but also forged meaningful connections across various sectors and communities. The diverse experiences and interactions throughout the program have fostered a deep understanding of regional challenges and opportunities. With their newfound insights and collaborative spirit, the future leaders are well-positioned to drive positive change in North Queensland, bringing hope and inspiration for a thriving and connected region.
