Matt Thomson - Carey Group

Matt has operated at Executive level in complex global organisations for the past 15 years including the past 10 years as a practice managing partner and CEO. He has successfully grown and led high performing teams of professionals across Australia and Asia. He is experienced in developing and executing strategy; planning and delivering results; managing major initiatives, and motivating teams of finance professionals to achieve above expectation outcomes. He has worked extensively with senior management teams across the Government and private sector to develop effective strategy/policy and plan its successful execution; generate new sources of revenue and transform organisational revenue models; deliver organic and in-organic (mergers, acquisitions, alliances) growth; optimise planning, budgeting and forecasting; and deliver financial performance, capital projects and investments.

Dr Murray Prideaux - James Cook University 

Following 20+ years industry experience, Murray moved to the ‘Dark’ side to follow a passion for cutting-edge research and to operationalise leadership and strategy learning into the ‘real’ world. Murray has extensive international experience, particularly in PNG, working, researching and developing leadership and strategic capacity in both government and non-government organisations.

Murray has presented research findings at international conferences, enjoys connecting and would like to present a TED talk.

Colin Lea - Carey Group

Col’s area of expertise is wealth creation and retirement planning, investment strategy development for Self-Managed Super Funds, private wealth advice for high net worth clients and agribusiness clients of the firm. In addition to advising clients, Col works closely on driving new client engagement for the firm, and is one of the two Responsible Managers for the Australian Financial Services Licence held by Endure Wealth. Col is originally from a broad acre farming background in the Riverina and maintains a passion for agriculture in dealing with the firms regional clients.

Prior to joining the Carey Group, Col’s background was in international logistics, strategic planning, leadership and management roles in the Australian Defence Force for 21 years. In addition to completing a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning, Col has completed the Certified Financial Planner (CFP® Professional) program, which is the highest financial planning designation worldwide.

Peter Cavallo - Carey Group

As a Partner at the Carey Group, Peter oversees accounting and taxation support and manages clients in a variety of industries including small to medium business, construction, primary production, and high net wealth individuals. Peter is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).

Prior to the Carey Group, Peter developed his experience and skill sets in accountancy and taxation across a broad base of industries across the region.

Karina Hansen commenced working in the insurance industry in 1997 and Kylie Dennis joined in 2006 and have both worked their way through various roles to be an Account Executive for Gallagher today. Karina and Kylie’s expertise are working with our commercial client portfolios to help them understand the insurable risks for their business to make an informed decision on insurance purchases.

Roxanne Grey – Grey and Grey

Roxanne loves a half-strength long black (with 1 sugar, please). She is passionate about people achieving extraordinary things in business. As a Certified Practising Marketer and Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute, she isn’t afraid to say no. In fact, she often does. Roxanne believes there are enough ‘yes’ people already, instead pushing her clients out of their comfort zones to achieve their full potential. 

Roxanne is a partner at Grey and Grey; a brand positioning and strategic marketing agency with offices in Townsville and Brisbane. She leads a team of creative professionals to support her clients achieve their business development goals within Australia and internationally. Roxanne holds an MBA from JCU, is a regular judge of the Australian Marketing Awards, and sits on the Board of Glasser Australia.

Daniel’s area of expertise are wealth creation and retirement planning, investment strategy development for Self-Managed Super Funds, private wealth advice for high net worth clients.
Daniel is responsible for the daily business management and growth of the Financial advice and Self-Managed Super Fund divisions of the Carey Group.

Robert Carey - Carey Group

With a career spanning more than 45 years, Robert is passionate about the business and life generally in North Queensland. With a wealth of experience in accounting, finance, cane farming and the local community, Robert along with Matthew Carey, oversees the Ingham, Cairns and Malanda offices of the business.

Robert is the Chairman of North Queensland Bio-Energy Corporation Limited (NQBE), an Ingham based company that has received Federal and QLD State government approvals to construct a $600m multi-functional sugar, ethanol and power generation facility in Ingham. This renewable facility, once completed, will be a game changer for the sugar industry.

Nikeeta Guazzo - Carey Group

Nikeeta's areas of expertise include cash flow and budgeting, internal management account review and reconstruction of accounts. She is responsible for the 'client to cloud' project and working with the team to deliver a quality service in all aspects of a client's affairs in taxation covering personal and through to business needs. She is also leading the integration of the Xero accounting and cloud based platforms within the Carey Group.

Matthew is a senior finance professional with over 12 years’ experience working with complex spectrum of organisations from small businesses, not for profit entities and complex multinational entities. Mathew brings a diverse mix of industry and sector experience including retail, property, aviation, manufacturing and agriculture.

Based in the Ingham office, Matthew services clients in the Hinchinbrook, Townsville, Cairns and Malanda offices, specialising in taxation and business advice; primarily business improvement, and wealth creation. In addition, Matthew fulfils the role of Chief Financial Officer for the Carey Group.
