Give the gift of travel this Christmas

1st December 2021

Townsville Enterprise has launched a new holiday campaign encouraging locals and interstate visitors to ‘Give the Gift of Travel’ this festive season.

Leveraging a national Tourism Australia campaign, the ‘Give the Gift of Travel’ concept aims to inspire Australian shoppers to find more meaningful gifts by sharing a Townsville North Queensland experience or holiday package.

Complimenting existing marketing activity already reaching into South-East Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales, this local print, radio, billboard, and national social media campaign aims to further support the regional tourism and hospitality industry with forward bookings for Christmas and into 2022.

Townsville Enterprise CEO, Claudia Brumme-Smith said the Christmas season was the perfect opportunity to share the best of our backyard with visiting family and friends.

“With our border reopening ahead of Christmas, friends and family will finally be reunited after an extended period of separation, and of course after another tough year – giving a meaningful gift that you will remember for years to come will make a holiday experience all the more special,” Ms Brumme-Smith said.

“The positive, emotional impact of giving an experience is far greater and longer lasting that a physical one – and this year a gifted experience will have added meaning by doing good for an industry and community who have endured another year of business uncertainty.”

In line with borders reopening on 17 December, inaugural flights from Sydney and Melbourne also commence, making the direct access to the Townsville Airport more convenient for interstate travellers.

“We’re excited to welcome back our southern neighbours and these direct routes will only make it easier for visitors to travel to our paradise, extending our opportunity to re-engage inbound markets with a keen interest in Townsville North Queensland offering.”

“Our drive market, who have been the saviour of our tourism industry throughout the peak lockdown periods, also continue to wholly support our region, especially as part of the visiting friends and relatives’ market.”

“With our region is so diverse in its offering – island and reef, rainforest and Outback experiences to share, the options are endless and we’re sure there is something for even the hardest to buy for relative.”

Holiday gift cards and all-inclusive packages are available, featuring a range of family getaways with koalas and snorkelling with marine life, diving the Museum of Underwater Art, exploring and learning all about a World Heritage-Listed rainforest, wetting a line on the ultimate fishing experience at the Great Barrier Reef, or wooing that special someone with a fully catered secluded beach picnic or a sunset sail.
