Business community rallies behind North Queensland

6th February 2019

In one day, our community welcomed $1,205,000 in financial contributions from six Townsville Enterprise members towards North Queensland's flood recovery.

Following Townsville City Council’s announcement to partner with North Queensland flood recovery charity, GIVIT, and the Queensland Government establishing its flood appeal, we put the call out to Townsville Enterprise members and local businesses to dig deep to support our community through these challenging times.

We are thrilled to announce that Adani Australia, Queensland Country Credit Union, Townsville Airport, The Ville Resort-Casino and Willows Shopping Centre today collectively donated $205,000 to GIVIT towards helping our community get back on its feet. Glencore kicked off the announcements this morning with an incredible $1 million donation to the North Queensland Flood Appeal.

These businesses have an enormous footprint across Townsville North Queensland and this financial support is to be commended, particularly after the tough economic conditions local businesses have experienced over the past few years.

Donations so far include:
• Glencore $1,000,000
• Adani Australia $100,000
• Queensland Country Credit Union $50,000
• Townsville Airport $25,000
• The Ville Resort-Casino $20,000
• Willows Shopping Centre: $10,000

We anticipate that these organisations are just the first cabs off the rank in what will be an incredible display of generosity from the business community. We are continuing discussions with several other organisations that have expressed their intent to make corporate contributions over the coming days and we welcome any further expressions of interest from our members. No donation is too great or too small - every little bit counts.
