Ahead of tonight's Federal Budget, our message to government has been clear and consistent. Although important, it's not just about our region's immediate economic recovery and rebuild following the floods, it's about setting the foundation for a strong future for North Queensland.
Our region has welcomed several funding announcements from the Government over the past 12 months, and recent funding allocations towards those impacted by the floods in the North and North West, but our immediate priority is now seeing the demonstrated commitment towards those announcements.
Our focus is on the period between tonight's delivery of the Federal Budget, the Opposition's budget reply and the upcoming election campaign, which are critical in terms of where North Queensland is heading.
