Townsville industry

Over the past decade, Townsville has experienced rapid growth due to the increased activity in industry sectors such as manufacturing, mining and construction services.

Gross Regional Product (GDP) for the region increased by 23 percent between the 2006/07 and 2007/08 financial years to $10.35 billion, and a further 16 percent between 2007/08 and 2008/09 to $12.06 billion.
