North Queensland Emerging Leaders Program
The North Queensland Emerging Leaders Program is designed to identify a select group of emerging leaders who will drive progress within our Region.
Existing leaders and experts will educate these emerging leaders on the issues, opportunities and challenges that impact on Townsville’s Region, locally, nationally and globally.
The program will connect participants to existing leaders, provide the mechanism for mentorship and deliver an optimal learning environment that will result in professional development.
Program Specifics
The North Queensland Emerging Leaders Program is a 2 year program that will explore Townsville’s diversity, learn about the Region’s strategic positioning and act upon the opportunities that will develop our economy.
There are no examinations for this experiential learning program however participants are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 80% across all program events.
Program Events Year 1 | - February – Annual Program Launch
- February- Two day residential (compulsory)
- Monthly – Each month there are one or two program events starting at 1pm and finishing no later than 7pm. Each event will cover a different program theme
- July – One day residential (compulsory)
- August – Annual Leadership Breakfast

At each monthly event, participants will engage with industry leaders
who will present on the specific theme for the month. Venues will vary
from month to month according to the themes and participants are
required to research the subject prior to each event in order to
actively participate and engage in group discussion. Information
sessions are scheduled from approximately 1pm until 7pm. From time to
time there may be a tour of relevant facilities and some months may require 2 information sessions, however appropriate notice will be given to participants.
